Spirits were certainly lifted this week when the staff received a thank you gift from the PTFA. It was crammed with goodies and individual thank you cards to show their appreciation and to help the staff through the final few weeks of the term.
School has been open for vulnerable children and the children of key workers since the end of March. It is only now we are starting to see the return of some year groups and the first steps in teaching being resumed. The staff have worked constantly to ensure they have provided a safe and welcoming environment for everyone as well as providing online lessons, but are now enjoying seeing more children and re-establishing routines and managing a return to lessons. They have had to adapt to the new guidelines and often teach a year group that they are unfamiliar with, but have done so with enthusiasm and professionalism.
Having said that there was a great deal of negotiating around the distribution of wine from the hamper. I do think everyone got their favourites in the end though (and there were even some ‘gluten free’ treats for the Headteacher, which were non-negotiable)!
The arrival of the hamper certainly did re-invigorate everyone in school as we prepare school for a return of all children in September and the staff were keen to pass on their thanks.
