Message from the Headteacher

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Hill View Primary School, situated in the Beechwood area of Runcorn, Cheshire.

Much of my teaching career has been spent at Hill View as teacher, Deputy Headteacher and now with the honour of leading the school. This has always been done with the main aim of making a positive difference to the lives of pupils, parents, staff and our wider community.

At Hill View our main aim is to ensure that all children can read fluently and achieve this as quickly as possible. It is inevitable that fluent readers will learn more, because they can read and gain knowledge for themselves. To do this our well trained staff ensure high quality teaching of phonics on a daily basis.

At Hill View all members of staff are also committed to making learning effective, to make it more engaging and primarily as enjoyable as possible to encourage the retention of knowledge. We do this through a carefully planned curriculum designed around learning challenges, taking full advantage of our local environment.  We also make sure every child has the opportunity to engage in outdoor adventurous activities in a progressive series of residential visits; that they enjoy cultural visits to the theatre and West End Shows; have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and develop their vocal potential through a joy of singing.  The curriculum each child receives provides opportunities to explore and investigate the wealth of human creativity and achievement, learning that is so important in supporting children’s personal and social development.

All members of staff take great care to fully understand each individual child and ensure we meet their social, emotional and wellbeing needs through a safe, secure learning environment. Through working closely with parents and carers we endeavour to ensure that all of our pupils experience an excellent start to their lifelong learning journey.

I look forward to seeing you at Hill View.
